Hi. If you are feeling down, sad, or even just numb, please join me for a cup of coffee. I would like to share with you a story.
It will only take a few minutes since I wrote it specifically to fit the time frame of one coffee break 🙂
I hope that my short little story will make your coffee break more interesting than usual.
And maybe, if you read to the end, you will realize that it was exactly what you needed to hear today…
so here it goes :
Most of them are books. Other items that are purportedly life-changing include spendy cosmetics, water filters, and a certain type of dog food.
Which begs the question: if it’s so easy to change your life, how come so many people still live a shitty existence, unaware of the unlimited options that, for just a few dollars, will do the job that no therapist managed to do?
Maybe they are just not sure what is missing exactly..or even not sure whether their life is really shitty or just…this is it. That’s life…?
My name is Haleli Smadar. Seventeen years ago, I was married (I’m not anymore); had two sweet toddlers (I now have three children) a house in the suburbs; two cars; a dog, and a very ‘normal’ life in Israel (as you’ve probably guessed, I don’t have any of these anymore…).
My life was so normal it was…well…awful.
One morning, I was sitting in my garden, enjoying my daily ‘me time’ cup of coffee. The kids were at day-care, my husband was at work. It was peaceful, quiet, and sunny. Just me and a huge old olive tree. Nothing out of the ordinary.
But this day was not like every other day.
By the time I finished my coffee, my life had changed, and would never be the same. And not because I had done an Amazon search (I didn’t even know what it was, back then). I didn’t read any self-help book, and I certainly didn’t buy any life changing dog food.
For me, all it took was one cup of coffee.
And that’s what I want to tell you about.
4.35 seconds. The speedy caffeine-guzzler who set the world record goes by the name of Andre Ortolf and he seems to be quite the character: breaking a number of other records including the fastest mile in clogs (7 minutes, 26.48 seconds) and the furthest distance to blow a pea (7.51 meters). Yap. You read it right..:-)
Apparently, by the time he was eight years old, Ortolf already knew he wanted to break a Guinness World Record. When I was eight years old, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. But if I could have planned my dream future, it probably wouldn’t have involved sitting in my garden every morning, drinking coffee, and feeling miserable.
On the surface, I had no reason to be. And I think that is what made it even more difficult.
Here I was, at 28-years-old. On paper, I had checked every box on the life goals list. I had a house with a nice garden, two kids, a car, and a dishwasher. My sex life was normal, a basic shade of gray, my jeans size hadn’t changed since high school, and to shake things up a little we had adopted one of the neighbor’s new kittens. She was adorable..(well..not so much if you asked our dog..)
The first question I asked my father after he was told that he had three months left to live was: “Those 60 years you have had, were they good? Were you happy?”
Three months later, my father was still alive and kicking. He was a soldier and a fighter, and the most optimistic man I have ever known. He promised me that he would win this fight.
He did win, for a while. And then he didn’t. He died three years later, at the age of 63.
I was 27 years old; my son was almost four, and my daughter was eight months old. It always shocks me when I realize how much time has passed since then: that daughter is now 18. And to this day, my least favorite word is “malignant”.
I’m not telling you this to make you feel sad. I’m telling you this in the hope that you will glean from this story the one positive that I was able to take from the situation: My father’s death was a wakeup call for me – life is short. unpredictable. And too precious to waste on things that make you miserable.
And, for me, that one cup of coffee had everything to do with this lightbulb moment.
400 million cups of coffee a day are drank in the US alone. And the country comes in a lowly 8th in the world coffee consumption rankings. In first place? Finland.
Surprising, right?
As it turns out, all you need is one.. 😊.
I was six months into my year of mourning my father, sitting in my garden staring at the olive tree. Confused, I asked myself ‘if you have basically everything people dream of, why the hell aren’t you happy? What’s wrong with you?’.
And at that moment, I came to a simple realization: maybe this was someone’s dream life, but it was not mine.
I had got confused with the ‘life goals’ checklist. It was all a huge mistake.
I’m going to stop telling you my story for now, because I want to get to my original point. But If you wish to read more about my own life, what I did to change it, what were the 3 obstacles that I had to overcome (hint- only one of them was money..) and how I managed to solve them- you are welcome to download my short book “HOWEVER”, where I tell all about it. (it will cost you 3.99$ and it will change your life.. :-))
what’s missing in most of us women’s life is not money. not connection. not love or lust and not even shoes, like everyone seems to think..
What we are missing most of all is passion. desire. It’s spending a few moments every day, doing something that makes us feel ALIVE.
I know what you think.. here is another one talking about the “follow your passion” bla bla. But I am not talking about that at all.
And, while I myself really took this “follow your passion” mission very seriously and went to the extreme- I am the only one who can actually say that you really don’t have to (unless this is what you want.. which in that case- go for it!)
What I want to tell you is that even spending just a few minutes every day, doing something that pumps up all the good chemicals inside- will make a huge difference.
Actually.. I’m pretty sure that I don’t even need to tell you that. Because you already know. Am I right?
You know that your whole day can get better. You know that it will impact your well-being, your self-esteem, your sex life, your sleep, and even your skin complexion.
So what’s keeping you?
The next time that you will have a bad day, or just a feeling of emptiness, meaningless or nothingness- (and before thinking about getting yourself a hot Latino lover), try to do one of these things:
There are so many other things that you can do, to start feeling more passionate and alive again.
I wrote a whole page that explains all about bringing back the pinkish hue and bright eyes into your everyday life.
I also created a journal+planner that will help you create a routine full of fun, love, passion, and good vibes.
I call it “my coffee break shake” (well..now that you’ve read my story you can understand why :-)) and it’s all about changing your life one coffee break at a time..
*This planner is dedicated to three specific issues related to happiness. It comes with a daily fun planner (125 pages), a 30 pages E-newsletter full of inspiration to help you get wild, and a personal email sequence for some extra guidance and support.
So if you feel ready to commit – go ahead and purchase your first coffee break shake 🙂 >>
if you are still ‘not there yet’ (i find it hard to believe, but..), go ahead and purchase some life-changing face cream.. I will even add a link to make it easier for you :-).
Jokes aside, if you just want to know more or learn from me how to do it by yourself– just subscribe to my email list. It may not have the same impact as a stormy love affair or a fierce adventure in the Mongolian outback, but It’s free, and it’s wild..
And how it affects everything related to your well-being.
What was the right "list" for me, And how I take "follow your passion" to the extreme...
As promised - here are a few things that will definitely make your life better...
